Physical Therapy is a treatment approach that assists persons in reaching their highest level of motor functioning and mobility. Through Physical Therapy, individuals are assessed and receive treatment to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives and to help prevent conditions associated with loss of mobility through fitness and wellness programs that achieve healthy and active lifestyles. Treatment may involve intensive work in a variety of areas including standing, sitting, walking, balance, muscle tone, endurance, strength, and coordination. Physical Therapy also identifies and instructs the individual in the use of special equipment, when necessary, that can help the individual adapt to limited physical functioning and move more freely and independently in his or her environment.
